Floquet scattering of quadratic band-touching semimetals through a time-periodic potential well

چکیده

Abstract We consider tunneling of quasiparticles through a rectangular quantum well, subject to periodic driving. The are the itinerant charges in two-dimensional and three-dimensional semimetals having quadratic bandtouching (QBT) point Brillouin zone. To analyze time-periodic Hamiltonian, we assume non-adiabatic limit where Floquet theorem is applicable. By deriving scattering matrices, chalk out transmission shot noise spectra QBT semimetals. show Fano resonances, which identify with (quasi)bound states systems.

Floquet Scattering and Classical-Quantum correspondence in strong time periodic fields

We study the scattering of an electron from a one dimensional inverted Gaussian atomic potential in the presence of strong time periodic electric fields. Using Floquet theory, we construct the Floquet Scattering matrix in the Kramers-Henneberger frame. We compute the transmission coefficients as a function of electron incident energy and find that they display asymmetric Fano resonances due to ...

Real Floquet factors of linear time-periodic systems

Floquet theory plays a ubiquitous role in the analysis and control of time-periodic systems. Its main result is that any fundamental matrix X(t, 0) of a linear system with T -periodic coefficients will have a (generally complex) Floquet factorization with one of the two factors being T -periodic. It is also well known that it is always possible to obtain a real Floquet factorization for the fun...

Floquet topological semimetal phases of an extended kicked Harper model.

Recent discoveries on topological characterization of gapless systems have attracted interest in both theoretical studies and experimental realizations. Examples of such gapless topological phases are Weyl semimetals, which exhibit three-dimensional (3D) Dirac cones (Weyl points), and nodal line semimetals, which are characterized by line nodes (two bands touching along a line). Inspired by our...

A Floquet-Bloch Transform Based Numerical Method for Scattering from Locally Perturbed Periodic Surfaces

Scattering problems for periodic structures have been studied a lot in the past few years. A main idea for numerical solution methods is to reduce such problems to one periodicity cell. In contrast to periodic settings, scattering from locally perturbed periodic surfaces is way more challenging. In this paper, we introduce and analyze a new numerical method to simulate scattering from locally p...

Topological mott insulator in three-dimensional systems with quadratic band touching.

We argue that a three-dimensional electronic system with the Fermi level at the quadratic band touching point such as HgTe could be unstable with respect to the spontaneous formation of the (topological) Mott insulator at arbitrary weak long-range Coulomb interaction. The mechanism of the instability can be understood as the collision of Abrikosov's non-Fermi liquid fixed point with another, qu...
